Domestic Disturbance in Bettendorf

At approximately 7:56 a.m. today, Scott Emergency Communication Center received a call concerning a domestic disturbance involving a handgun at 2229 Echodale Drive, Bettendorf.

When police arrived two family members were outside the home and two others exited the house shortly after.  At this time the subject was alone in the house with a weapon.  Bettendorf Emergency Response Unit arrived on scene and set up a secure area around the home.  Scott County Sheriff Deputies, Davenport Police, and Rock Island County Sheriff Deputies arrived to assist.  Bettendorf Fire Department and Medic were on standby.

Bettendorf police negotiators attempted to make contact with the subject for approximately two hours with no success.  The ERU team tried to make contact using a loud speaker also with no success.  After approximately 2 ½ hours, the subject finally responded and came out of the house.  The subject began not to comply with officers and a less than lethal exact impact weapon was used and struck the subject in the back.  The subject was taken into custody without further incident and is being held at Scott County Jail without bond.

35 year old Jason Anthony Obie, is charged with Domestic Abuse While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Obie is the male adult resident of the home and lives there with his wife and children.
