Police Respond to Domestic Assault With Weapon

August 23, 2014

At approximately 8:11 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, Bettendorf Police responded to a call in the 1500 block of Antler Court for a domestic assault with a weapon.

When police arrived, 68 year old William R. Kill was alone in the residence with a handgun and several hunting type weapons.  After calling 911, his wife left the house. At 8:49 p.m. the Bettendorf Emergency Response Unit responded to the scene.

During the standoff, police negotiators attempted to make contact with Kill.  The subject did not answer his phone at first but eventually did, but terminated the call several times during the negotiations.

At 12:02 p.m., the subject came out of the residence on his own but did not comply with officers’ commands.  A less lethal exact impact weapon was used to affect an arrest and also did not allow the subject to reenter the home where the weapons were located.  Kill was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse While Displaying a Weapon. He was transported to Scott County Jail.
