Arrest Made on Active Shooting Incident that Occurred on October 26, 2015 in Davenport and Bettendorf

On December 28, 2015 an arrest warrant was obtained by the Bettendorf Police Department for Lonnie J. Long, age 44, of Davenport, charging him with one count of Transferring a Pistol to an Individual not possessing a valid permit, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable up to (2) two years in prison and a fine between $625 and $6,250. Long is being accused of selling a pistol to Robert Mayes II prior to the active shooting incidents that occurred in Davenport and Bettendorf on October 26, 2015. The transaction occurred at Long’s residence in Davenport and at the time Mayes was a resident of Coal Valley, IL and did not possess a valid permit to purchase the handgun.

On December 31, 2015 Lonnie Long turned himself in to the Scott County Courthouse where he was arrested on the warrant and appeared before the court. The judge remanded him to the Scott Co. Jail where he posted a $2,000 cash bond and was released.
