Bettendorf Police Assist Moline Police in Traffic Stop

April 9, 2012

At approximately 7:38 p.m., Moline police followed a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse into Bettendorf.  Moline requested assistance from Bettendorf Police to stop the vehicle.  When a fully marked Bettendorf squad car tried to stop the vehicle, the car failed to pull over.  Bettendorf police observed the driver dumping a baggy full of white powder out the window of the vehicle.  The Eclipse struck on van while traveling south on Devils Glen Road.  The vehicle traveled approximately two blocks before coming to a complete stop.  The passenger was taken into custody and the driver fled the scene.  Police searched for the suspect for approximately 15 until Moline police arrived on scene with a heat sensor and found the suspect hiding in the woods east of Devils Glen Road.

No charges were filed against the passenger of the vehicle.  The driver, 26 year old Cody Baker of East Moline was taken into custody and will be transported to Scott County Jail.  Charges against Baker are pending.
