The City of Bettendorf welcomes Kristine Stone, who replaces longtime City Attorney Greg Jager.

Kristine has been the Assistant City Attorney for Ames, Iowa since August, 2009. Prior to her work with Ames, she worked as a staff attorney for two different legal aid offices and also as a deputy public defender. Kristine has a Bachelor of Arts from Iowa State University and graduated from Drake University Law School with honors.

My family is excited to return to eastern Iowa and looks forward to becoming an active part of the Bettendorf community. I am eager to get started and meet the rest of the talented Bettendorf team."

Kristine is married with two children. She and her family will be moving to Bettendorf within the next few months.

Mayor Bob Gallagher adds, "The City of Bettendorf has been very fortunate to have Greg Jager as our city attorney for over 27 years. We understand his decision to retire and we wish him the best. We are now looking forward to a new chapter as Kristine takes over the City's legal responsibilities. Her background in prosecution cases, ordinance revisions, zoning manners, and criminal jury trials will be a great asset to our City."

Kristine's formal appointment will be at the City Council meeting on Monday, March 4, and she will begin her duties as city attorney on April 1, 2013.
