2013 Media Releases - . - Dog Bite Investigation in Bettendorf

On Sunday, March 24 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Bettendorf Police Department took a dog bite report that occurred in the 2400 block of Crestview Drive. The victim was walking his dog when an unattended loose dog began running towards the victim and his dog. Fearing that his dog was going to get attacked he got in-between the two dogs and got bit in his face by the suspect dog causing cuts/punctures to his nose. The victim was able to fight off the dog and it ran away. His dog did not sustain any injuries. The victim was treated and released at Trinity Hospital in Bettendorf.

According to the victim he had not seen the dog in the neighborhood before. The dog was last seen running from the area and is described as short haired, black or brown in color, about 75-80 pounds and appeared to be a Rottweiler or Pit Bull mix. The suspect dog did not appear to have a collar and has not been located or identified.

The Bettendorf Police Department is asking if anyone may have possible information as to the identification or whereabouts of this dog in order to verify/confirm that the dog is up to date on its rabies vaccinations.
