Sewer Credit Program

Posted: July 12, 2022

If you regularly water your lawn or have an irrigation system, you may be interested in Bettendorf’s Sewer Credit Program. This program was designed to give you credit for sewer charges for outdoor water usage.
To achieve this, you must have a special meter installed at your expense, in your home.
Readings from the separate meter must be read by the user and reported to the City's Finance Department no later than December 1st of each year. Your utility account will be adjusted based upon this reading (less a $100 annual fee). You will continue to be billed quarterly for usage.

Steps to take to sign up for the program:

1. Contact a licensed plumber
2. Plumber submits a City of Bettendorf permit
3. Plumber installs system
4. Homeowner completes application and submits application to the Building Inspections Department located at 4403 Devil’s Glen Rd.

5. City Inspector does a final inspection of installation, takes initial reading and makes final approval.

After approval:
• Use your system as normal.

When you have completed watering for the season:

• Report meter reading to the City’s Finance Department (before December 1st of each year)  Click here to submit meter reading
• A credit will appear on your account
• Credits will apply to future bills, refunds will only be issued upon move out.
• Submit additional reading when moving from property
