Road Construction and Closures Notices

18th Street Rehabilitation – Spruce Hills Drive to Tech Drive

Beginning Monday, October 1 and continuing through October, 18th Street will be under construction between Spruce Hills Drive and Tech Drive. The work will consist of full depth PCC patching and diamond grinding. Construction will be phased in two stages. Each stage will close two lanes with two-way traffic being moved to the other two lanes. The start date and duration of the project are dependent on weather.

Crow Creek Road Reconstruction Update

On Wednesday, September 18, 2018, the remaining stages of the Crow Creek Road reconstruction project from Apple Valley Drive to Davis Street will continue.  Curb removal & replacement as well as driveway aprons have been completed.  The removal of remaining roadway pavement will begin and only westbound traffic will be allowed on Crow Creek Road until the project is completed.  Eastbound traffic for Crow Creek Road will be detoured north on 18th Street, then eastbound on 53rd Avenue, then southbound on Devils Glen Road.

I-74 Construction Updates from IDOT

July 30 – August 3: Nighttime lane closures on NB/EB Grant Street/US 67-Beginning on July 30 at 6 PM (weather permitting), northbound (eastbound) Grant Street/US 67 from will be reduced to one lane between 12th Street and 14th Street from 6 PM to 6 AM through Friday, August 3.

August 5 – August 10: Nighttime lane closures on SB/WB Grant Street/US 67-Beginning Sunday, August 5, southbound (westbound) Grant Street/US 67 will be reduced to one lane nightly from 6 PM to 6 AM. To facilitate setting steel beams over Grant Street/ US 67, traffic will be diverted between 10 PM and 5 AM to northbound 14th Street, left onto westbound Mississippi Boulevard, left onto southbound Kimberly Road, then right onto southbound Grant St/US 67. Work is anticipated to be complete on Friday, August 10.

August 5 – August 10: Nighttime lane closures and intermittent road closures on NB/EB Grant Street/US 67-Beginning Sunday, August 5, northbound (eastbound) Grant Street/US 67 will be reduced to one lane nightly from 6 PM to 6 AM. To facilitate setting steel beams, Grant Street/ US 67 will have intermittent road closures for about 5-10 minutes between 10 PM and 5 AM. Work is anticipated to be complete on Friday, August 10.

August 5 – August 10: Nighttime lane closures on WB I-74 off-ramp to Grant Street/US 67 (Exit 4)-Beginning Sunday, August 5, westbound I-74 Exit 4 traffic will only be able to turn right onto Grant Street/US 67 between 10 PM and 5 AM to facilitate setting steel beams. Work is anticipated to be complete on Friday, August 10.

21st Street Closed Between State/Grant

Beginning Tuesday, July 31, 2018, 21st Street between State Street and Grant Street will be closed to thru traffic for approximately one week for a water service tap to Ascentra Credit Union and pavement replacement in connection with the project. Central Avenue & 23rd Street Intersection Closure – Water Main Replacement

Beginning Monday, July 23, 2018 and continuing for approximately two weeks, the intersection of Central Avenue and 23rd Street will be closed to all traffic for water main replacement. The following detour routes will be in effect.

  •  Southbound traffic on 23rd Street will be detoured west on Lincoln Road and south on 18th Street to U.S. 67
  • Northbound traffic on 23rd Street will be detoured west on U.S. 67 and north on 18th Street to Lincoln Road
  • Eastbound traffic on Central Ave will be detoured south on 18th Street and east to U.S. 67
  • Westbound traffic on Central Ave will be detoured south on 27th Street and west to U.S. 67

U.S. Highway 67 Resurfacing Project – 26th Street to Valley Drive

Beginning Monday, July 16, 2018 and continuing into August, the Iowa Department of Transportation will be resurfacing U.S. Highway 67 (State Street) between 26th Street in Bettendorf and Valley Drive in Riverdale.  The work will consist of full depth concrete patching and Hot Mix Asphalt resurfacing.  One lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times.  The majority of the work will be done at night between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. For more information, contact the Iowa Department of Transportation at 563-391-2750.

Middle Road Resurfacing – I74 to 23rd Street

Beginning Monday, July 9 and continuing into September, Middle Road will be under construction between I74 and 23rd Street. The work will consist of asphalt resurfacing. Construction will be phased in two stages. Each stage will close two lanes with two-way traffic being moved to the other two lanes. The start date and duration of the project are dependent on weather.

Crow Creek Road Reconstruction

Beginning Monday, July 16, 2018 and continuing for about three months, the Crow Creek Road reconstruction project from Apple Valley Drive to Davis Street will commence.  Stage 1 of the project involves curb removal & replacement as well as driveway aprons, while maintaining 2-way traffic on Crow Creek Road during this stage.  After completion of Stage 1, removal of pavement will begin and only westbound traffic will be allowed on Crow Creek Road until the project is completed.  Eastbound traffic for Crow Creek Road will be detoured north on 18th Street, then eastbound on 53rd Avenue, then southbound on Devils Glen Road.  The start date and duration of the project is dependent on weather.

Forest Grove Rehabilitation – Middle Road to Criswell Street

Beginning Monday, July 9, 2018 and continuing through early August, Forest Grove Drive will be under construction between Middle Road and Criswell Street. The work will consist of full depth asphalt reclamation, with the addition of a 4" Hot Mix Asphalt overlay.

The work will take place in two phases. Phase 1 will close Forest Grove Drive to thru traffic from Middle Road to Summerfield Drive. During Phase II, Forest Grove Drive will be closed to thru traffic between Summerfield Drive and Criswell Street.

Residents will have access to Spring Creek Drive, Nottingham Lane and individual residences during both phases of work. A detour will be in place during both phases, with traffic detoured along Middle Road, Indiana Avenue, and Wells Ferry Road.

Central Avenue Closure – Water Main Replacement

Beginning Wednesday, June 27, 2018 and continuing for approximately 8 weeks, Central Avenue will be closed to all traffic between 23rd Street and 25th Street for water main replacement.  The following detour routes will be in effect.  Westbound traffic will be detoured south on 27th Street to U.S. 67 (Grant Street) and then north on 23rd Street back to Central Avenue.  Eastbound traffic will be detoured south on 23rd Street to U.S. 67 (State Street) and then north on 27th Street back to Central Avenue.  Local access for residents between 23rd Street and 25th Street will be maintained.

Westbound I-74 On-Ramp at Middle Road

Construction update: Bettendorf - Beginning Wednesday, May 30, 2018 (weather permitting), there will be nighttime closures on the westbound I-74 on-ramp at Middle Road for pavement and shoulder work. This work is anticipated to be complete in early June, 2018. Detour: Take the eastbound I-74 on-ramp to Grant St/State St (Exit 4), to southbound Kimberly R/13th St, to eastbound Grant St, to northbound 14th St then take the westbound I-74 on-ramp.

Pleasant Drive and Hollow View Drive

Beginning Tuesday, May 29, 2018 and continuing through August, a portion of Pleasant Drive and Hollow View Drive will be will be closed to thru traffic for pavement reconstruction. One lane of traffic will be maintained in all directions for local traffic only. There will be no parking allowed on either side of Pleasant Drive or Hollow View Drive for the duration of the project. Residents are asked to park outside the construction limits during this project.

Grant Street Reconstruction

Beginning Monday, May 14, 2018 and continuing for about three months, Grant Street from US67 to 6th Street will be closed to traffic in half width stages for pavement reconstruction beginning with the north half until completed then proceeding to the south half.  Grant Street will be closed but accessible to local traffic only.  Roadside residents and visitors will not be allowed to park on either side of the street where a stage is under construction.  The start date and duration of the project is dependent on weather.

Kings Drive Reconstruction

Beginning Monday, May 7, 2018 and continuing for about three months, Kings Drive from Kings Court to Brunswick Drive will be closed to traffic in half width stages for pavement reconstruction beginning with the south half until completed then proceeding to the north half.  Kings Drive will be closed but accessible to local traffic only.  Roadside residents and visitors will not be allowed to park on either side of the street where a stage is under construction.  The start date and duration of the project is dependent on weather.

2018 Street Resurfacing Program

Beginning Monday, April 16, 2018 and continuing through August, street resurfacing will begin in various locations throughout the City. The proposed improvements consist of pavement scarification (milling) and resurfacing with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), full depth concrete patching, constructing handicap accessible ramps and other related work. During this time, two-way traffic will be maintained with reduced speed, with one lane traffic occurring for short periods in some areas.

Middle Road P.C. Concrete Rehabilitation – Kimberly Road to 18th Street

Beginning Monday, April 2, 2018, and continuing through July, Middle Road will be under construction between Kimberly Road and 18th Street. The work will consist of full depth concrete patching and storm intake reconstruction. Construction will be phased in two stages. The first stage will close the two westbound (north) lanes with two-way traffic being moved to the eastbound (south) lanes. The second stage will close the two eastbound (south) lanes with two-way traffic being moved to the reconstructed westbound (north) lanes. 2017-18 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation 

Beginning December 4, 2018 and continuing through March of 2018, Visu-Sewer, Inc. will be rehabilitating various storm and sanitary sewers throughout the City.  The proposed improvements consist of lining sewers in various locations with a cured-in-place pipe liner to restore structural integrity and flow capacity. This process uses water and steam to cure the lining.  The contractor will be cleaning and televising the sewer mains prior to the lining with minimal disruptions to residents.  Residents will be notified a minimum of 48 hours prior to the beginning of the actual lining process. During the lining, residents will be asked to minimize their sewer usage for that day. Two-way traffic will be maintained with reduced speed, with one lane traffic occurring for short periods in some areas.
