Training Division
The goal of the Training Division is to promote personal career development by providing regular, quality, progressive in-house educational programs, to support participation in local, state, and national conferences and seminars, and to encourage advanced certifications in fire suppression, prevention, EMS and hazardous materials.
OBJECTIVE STATEMENTS:

To conduct three (3) regularly scheduled in-house training sessions per month emphasizing progressive, recognized fire suppression, rescue, EMS, and Haz-Mat operations.

To prepare personnel for successful completion of the State of Iowa advanced certifications in Firefighter I & II, Instructor I, and Emergency Medical Technician, basic through Paramedic.

To conduct special in-house training sessions in Engineering, Officer Development, Incident Command and Hazardous Materials.

To require and conduct in-house certification as a Recruit Firefighter for all paid and volunteer recruits.

To increase the number of EPA certified Haz-Mat Technicians.

To send Officers to the IAFC and FDIC conferences.

To send personnel to the Iowa State Fire School.

To provide personnel with current, up-to-date resource and audio-visual training materials.

To improve the educational classroom environment and delivery system.

To finish the construction of the Maintenance Center Fire/Police training facility.
