City of Bettendorf, Iowa

A premier city.

Storm Cleanup Information

UPDATE: As of August 28, 2020
As of August 29, 2020, crews will have completed at least one pass through the city picking up debris from the storm that occurred on August 10. It is our goal to start a second pass and have the majority of the cleanup completed by September 11, weather permitting. Any debris left at the curb after that time, will be picked on residents’ regular yard waste collection day.
Beginning Monday, September 14, yard waste bags will require a sticker, which can be purchased at local grocery stores, convenience stores, garden centers, City Hall or the Public Works building.
For more information concerning storm debris cleanup, please contact Public Works at 563-344-4088, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

UPDATE: As of August 21, 2020
The City would like to thank Bettendorf residents for their patience and cooperation during the storm debris cleanup.
We have collected over 4000 cubic yards of trees limbs, leaves, and branches since the storm hit on August 10, 2020, and there is quite a bit of debris that still needs to be picked up. We estimate nearly 65 percent of the City has been cleared. Staff will make at least one pass through the entire city by Wednesday, August, 26, 2020. We hope to have the rest of the debris picked up within two weeks. Please remain patient and staff will be through your area as soon as possible.
We want to remind residents that yard waste stickers are not needed during storm debris cleanup.

POSTED: August 18, 2020
Public Works crews have been working tirelessly to remove vegetative debris from the right-of-way due to last week’s storm event.
It is important to note that if a resident hires a commercial landscape or tree service to trim trees, tree limbs, or shrubs on private property, it is the commercial operator's responsibility to remove and dispose of the debris they generate. The City will not collect material cut or trimmed by a private contractor.
If you have questions, please contact Public Works at 563-344-4088.

Storm Cleanup Information, August 10, 2020
Due to the recent storm, the City of Bettendorf is relaxing yard waste collection rules.
Residents may dispose of storm debris in the following ways:
• Tree limbs/branches must be cut in 5 foot lengths, but do not need to be tied and bundled - set in orderly piles at your regular collection point for collection
• If possible, put all other storm debris in Kraft paper bags - no yard waste stickers are required
Please be patient. There was a significant amount of damage from the storm. City crews will pick up your debris as soon as possible.
For more information, please contact Public Works at 563-344-4088, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
