RE: Fire Investigation/Methamphetamine Manufacturing Warrants/Arrests

On Monday, August 26th, 2013 at 9:35pm the Bettendorf Police Department and Bettendorf Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 3221 State Street, Bettendorf, Iowa, which is a multi-unit storage facility. During the initial fire investigation it was determined that the fire originated in storage unit #8 which was leased at the time by McArtor Construction, 3221 State Street, Unit 8.

Upon further investigation by the Bettendorf Police Department, Bettendorf Fire Department, Iowa State Fire Marshal Division, and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement (DNE) it was determined that the fire was a result of the manufacturing of methamphetamine utilizing the one pot "shake and bake" method.

During this investigation it was also discovered that on that same date (August 26th) at approximately midnight there was a second location where the manufacture of methamphetamine occurred using the one pot "shake and bake" method. This sight was discovered in a cornfield 100 feet southeast of Middle Road and Indiana Avenue, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Upon completion of the investigation and conferring with the Scott County Attorney's Office the following warrants were issued on the following subjects with the following charges:

David J. McArtor (age 31) Arson 1st Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine (2 counts), Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Furnishing Place to Use Controlled Substance, Bond set at $200,000 cash.

Ira S. Dornbach (age 35) Arson 1st Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine (2 counts), Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Bond set at $200,000 cash.

Jack A. Otto (age 52) Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Bond set at $100,000 cash.

Sylvester Emory (age 53) Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Bond set at $100,000 cash.

Christopher A. Smith (age 27) Arson 1st Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine (2 counts), Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Bond set at $200,000 cash.

Zachary R. Bishop-Jensen (age 25)  Arson 1st Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Bond set at $200,000 cash.

Sarah M. Adamson (age 21)  Arson 1st Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine (2 counts), Possess Products to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Furnishing Place to Use Controlled Substance, Bond set at $200,000 cash.

Julie A. Huffman (age 32) Arson 1st Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Bond set at $200,000 cash.

At the time of this press release McArtor, Dornbach, Otto, and Emory are in custody at the Scott County Jail.

Smith, Bishop-Jensen, Adamson, and Huffman have not been taken into custody yet or turned themselves into the authorities.
