On Wednesday, August 15, pink fire trucks will visit Bettendorf, as part of the 2012 Pink Heals Tour.  The Pink Heals Tour event will be held at Faye's Field, 2850 18th Street from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Bettendorf Fire and Police and Riverdale Fire are teaming up with the "Guardians of the Ribbon" to raise awareness and money for women in their fight against cancer.  The "Guardians of the Ribbon" is a team of firefighters from across the country, who travel in pink fire trucks and wear pink fire gear to help inspire and empower every city across the nation to "Care Enough to Wear Pink." The pink fire trucks drive thousands of miles, carrying signatures of very special people, mostly women, some men, and a few children.

Cancer survivors and those battling cancer are invited to write their name on one of the pink fire trucks.  Individuals are invited to write a name of a person lost to the deadly disease.  The pink fire trucks, local fire trucks, and other emergency equipment will be available to the public from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The public will be able to purchase Pink Heals T-shirts at the event.  Food and a live radio broadcast will also be available.

For further details, call 563-344-4030 or e-mail kvale@bettendorf.org.

All monies raised will be donated to a local Quad City non-profit organization.
