Police Department Announces Promotions

November 6, 2012 

 

Two officer of the Bettendorf Police Department have been promoted to Captain, one officer promoted to Lieutenant, and one officer promoted to Sergeant.  The promotions will be acknowledged at the November 6 City Council meeting.

 

 

         On November 1, 2012, Lieutenant Justin Paul was promoted to Captain.

 

1997           Received a Bachelor's Degree from St. Ambrose/Criminal Justice, major and Psychology, minor

1999           Hired by the City of Bettendorf Police Department

2000           Master of Criminal Justice degree from St. Ambrose

2003           Promoted to Sergeant; 1st shift and 3rd shift patrol

2010           Promoted to Lieutenant; 3rd shift patrol

 

Career assignments include: Explorer advisor, crisis negotiator, field training officer, and crime scene technician.  Caption Paul is presently assigned to oversee the support services division.

 

         On November 2, 2012, Lieutenant Keith Kimball was promoted to Captain

 

1989           Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Sciences from Illinois State University

1990           Hired by the City of Bettendorf Police Department

1994           Member of the Emergency Response Unit

1994           Firearms instructor

2000           Promoted to Sergeant; Detective Bureau

2006           Promoted to Lieutenant; Administration and Training

 

Career assignments include: DARE officer, High School Liaison Officer, Detective, Shift Commander and ERU Operations Commander.  Captain Kimball is presently assigned to oversee the Field Services Division.

 

         On November 1, 2012, Sergeant Kent Keeshan was promoted to Lieutenant.

2001-05                Quad City MEG Undercover Officer/Supervisor

2005-Present       Narcotics K9 handler of "Old Dan"

2006-07                Promoted to Sergeant, Special Operations Unit

2007-09                Quad City MEG Deputy Director

2009-12                Sergeant; Special Operation Unit

 

Lieutenant Keeshan is presently assigned to supervise third shift patrol.

 

         On November 1, 2012, Officer Doug Scott was promoted to Sergeant

 

2005           Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baker College

2006           Hired by the City of Bettendorf Police Department

2008           Member of the Emergency Response Unit

2008           Field Training Officer

2010           Firearms Instructor

2011           New World Systems subject matter expert

2012           Master of Public Administration degree from Iowa State University

 

Sergeant Scott is presently assigned to supervise the Special Operations Unit.
