Open Burning: Leaves, trees, tree trimmings, grass, rubbish, residential and construction waste, or garbage may not be burned within the city. Permits may be issued at a cost of $10.00 by the Fire Department for vegetation grubbed in conjunction with new construction subject to compliance with the applicable codes.

Posting of Signs (Garage Sale Signs): Four signs of not more than four square feet may be displayed on the property of the residence where the garage sale is being conducted. Four signs of more than two square feet each are permitted off premise, along the nearest major street intersection, with written permission received from the property owners. Signs are specifically prohibited from being posted on any City right-of-ways, poles, or structures located within the right-of-way. No sign may be displayed on the premise of the garage sale more than two days prior to the sale. No off premises sign may be displayed prior to the day of the sale. Signs must be removed at the close of the garage sale.

Recreational Vehicle Parking: Parking of RVs (boats, trailers, mobile homes, etc.) is not allowed in any front yard or driveway. Parking of RVs is allowed in rear yards as long as there are at least five (5) feet between the RV and the side property line and there are at least two (2) feet between the RV and the rear property line. Limited parking is allowed in a driveway for up to eight (8) consecutive hours; no more than twice in any seven (7) day time period. This provision allows for the loading and unloading of the vehicle for weekly trips. Parking RVs on the driveway for repairs or visitors is allowed for up to one hundred sixty-eight (168) consecutive hours as long as the owner notifies the Code Enforcement Official at 344-4055.

Abandoned Vehicles: Any vehicle left on public property for 72 hours (48 hours if it has no current registration/license plates) is subject to tow as an abandoned vehicle. Cars or portions of cars inoperable and lacking current registration/license plates will be towed from private property when left in open view for more than five days. Abandoned vehicles which are towed and not reclaimed are sold at auction for salvage value.

Snow Removal: It is the responsibility of the abutting property owner to promptly remove snow, ice and accumulations from the sidewalks; but in the event that such snow, ice or accumulations are permitted to remain on the sidewalks for more than forty-eight (48) hours, then the city may remove such accumulations and assess the actual cost of removal against the property.

Weed/Grass Cutting: All weeds, vines, brush or other growth are required to be cut when the growth exceeds ten (10) inches in height in all developed areas or within two hundred (200) feet of any developed area or urban streets. In other areas of the city, all weeds, vines, brush or other growth shall be cut or destroyed when said growth exceeds two (2) feet.
