City Receives $234,740 in Grants for New Museum Exhibit, Water Park, and Police Equipment

The City of Bettendorf is getting some help to create fun experiences and ensure public safety in our community.

On November 22, 2022, the Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA) held its Fall 2022 Awards Ceremony and distributed 52 grants to projects in the Quad Cities - totaling $1,617,863.

Three of those grants - totaling $234,740 - went to our city:

1) The Landing received its first grant from the SCRA - totaling $166,667. The SCRA has a total commitment to The Landing of $4,000,000, which will equal 24 grants over 24 cycles (Fall and Spring). This commitment from the SCRA will help pay for The Landing's Community Water Park, which is funded by three separate parties - the City, YMCA, and Private Donors - explained here.

2) The Family Museum received a $35,000 grant from the SCRA to renovate its traveling gallery space into a permanent exhibit called "On the Road" - an interactive experience for families to take an imaginary road trip together. From giving your car a tune-up, to sightseeing along the way, to setting up camp, this inter-generational exhibit will bring back fond memories of road trips past and spark curiosity about travel and the outdoors:

3) The Bettendorf Police Department received a grant totaling $33,073 to purchase a handheld non-contact spectral drug analyzer. This tool can identify different drugs in a matter of seconds with high accuracy and precision without the drugs coming into contact with police officers.

Since 1991, the SCRA has granted $95,650,481 for the benefit of people and organizations in our community.
