Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment is a five-member board appointed by the Mayor. It is the Board's responsibility to interpret the City's Zoning Ordinance as it relates to variances (e.g., setback encroachment) and special use permits (e.g., bar in commercial zoning districts). All Permitted Uses can be found in Section 11-4-5: Permitted Use Table of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board is also responsible for the hearing and disposition of appeals from any order or decision made by a City administrative officer in enforcing the Zoning Ordinance. The Board of Adjustment meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:00 P.M. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 1609 State Street. Meetings can be viewed live on the City's YouTube page.
