City's Largest Public Works Project EVER Moving Forward

The transformation of the Forest Grove Drive and Middle Road Corridor is well underway and you’re going to see even more changes in the weeks and months ahead as our city makes way for a BIG development in the year ahead (scroll down to see more)!

UPDATE ON PHASE 1

The Forest Grove Drive Reconstruction Project began in August 2022 with the construction of public sanitary/storm sewer mains, the reconstruction of the roadway, and the construction of trails along Forest Grove Drive south of Competition Drive and the TBK Bank Sports Complex. That $1.25 million project is expected to be completed in December 2022.

PREPPING FOR PHASE 2

A $725,000 project started in mid-October 2022 and includes the construction of Competition Drive eastward from Middle Road, then south to Forest Grove Drive. That is expected to be completed in late November 2022. This work will help relieve some of the traffic pinch points in this corridor during Phase 2 in 2023.

HOW PHASE 2 WILL IMPACT YOU

Get ready for more roundabouts and more recreational trails! The second phase of the Forest Grove Drive Reconstruction Project is estimated to cost $2.5 million. It includes the construction of four roundabouts at the following locations:

  • The Newly Constructed Competition Drive and Forest Grove Drive East of Middle Road
  • Forest Grove Drive and Championship Drive West of Middle Road
  • Competition Drive and Middle Road North of Forest Grove Drive
  • Forest Grove Drive and Middle Road

Phase 2 also includes the installation of recreational trails, as well as the reconstruction of Forest Grove Drive through the Middle Road intersection to the east edge of the FG80 property.

WHAT IS THE FG80 PROPERTY?

The $100 million FG80 property is located east of Middle Road across from the TBK Bank Sports Complex and expands its offerings to include Iron Tee Golf – a golf entertainment venue – as well as multi-sport turf fields.

A construction kickoff ceremony was held on October 19th, 2022 which included Bettendorf City Leaders, City Council Members, and Mayor Bob Gallagher, who explained how the City’s work in this area is ensuring our streets and sewers are “up to par” – pun intended! – in order to make this development a success:

“It takes a team to put these things together,” he said. “The City believes in this project. The folks who have invested here and taken the risk have done wonderful things for our community. This impact is reaching far and wide and we’re very proud of our partnership here.”
